My home has the nostalgia of my family's Christmas traditions and memories. However, you can incorporate any of these Christmas decorating ideas and tips into your traditional, classic contemporary or modern farmhouse decor.

When decorating a fireplace mantle, I use decorations that I have and add natural pine sprigs, magnolia leaves, holly leaves and pinecones from the grounds to bring the smell of Christmas into my home.
I start with decorative artificial garland on the fireplace mantle. Then add ribbon, floral stem picks and ornaments. Beautiful garland for mantles and staircase handrails can be found here (#ad).

This is the time of year to sparkle and shine! Bring out the silver and crystal. Create a magical decor for yourself, family and friends. I love a mirrored dining room table top for reflecting crystal and shimmering centerpieces! If you use a wood or a table cloth, try placing mirrored tiles down the center of your table. I use felt or ribbon ties for the staircase garland as not to scratch the handrail finish. Attach the garland first. Then run the decorative ribbons along the garland. Attach the ribbon by twisting a pine needle over the ribbon every so often to create a bow effect. Add ornaments as desired to complete the designer look. Adding to our Christmas tree ornament collection each year was a tradition in our home.This tree is decorated in blue, silver, white and gold. Coordinating gold glitter Christmas trees and blue Christmas ornaments were used on the fireplace mantle. It feels like Christmas!!

Wide, elegant ribbon is an investment to use for years to come as a bow in the top of your tree. Starting at the top of the tree under the tree topper bow, run coordinating ribbon vertical down the tree weaving from the trunk to the front of the tree. This allows you to fill in any bare spaces near the trunk of the tree and makes a nice back drop for ornaments. Cut tree stems with wire cutters and insert individual pieces for easy application to complete your tree topper and throughout the tree. A variety of gold tree picks can be found here (#ad).
