Easy DIY Christmas Gifting Ideas
Updated: Jan 18, 2022
As a child, my mother always had small gifts wrapped and ready to hand out to neighbors, friends and business associates shortly after Thanksgiving Day. It was a tradition in our home for everyone to pitch in with the wrapping and decorative bows to get ready for the giving season. Anyone that stopped by our home received a gift upon departure. No one left empty handed. My mother became known for her special gift of chocolate covered pecans! Sooooo delicious! After opening gifts on Christmas day, each family member knew the best gift of all was still waiting. Tucked in the back corner behind all of the other gifts under the Christmas tree. We all received our very own container of chocolate covered pecans! I continue this tradition today. Start your own family tradition with the suggestions below for easy DIY gift giving.
The Heaton Pecans are featured on Oprah's Holiday Favorite Things gifting list this year and can be found here (#ad).
Baked Cookies and Chocolate
If you like to bake, make a tray of home cooked goodies and have it waiting near your back door for anyone who drops by during the holiday season. Wrap your baked (or recently purchased) goods in these adorable Red and Green Polka Dots Cello Bags here (ad), They come with twist ties for closure. After filling with goodies, I tie a ribbon around a large candy cane to finish the package off. Your Neighbors, UPS, FedEx, USPS and Amazon drivers will appreciate your thought during a busy season!
You will find Red and Green Polka Dots Cello Bags here (ad), Red Charger Plate for display here (ad), Gold Charger Plate for display here (ad), Silver charger for display here (ad). Decorative Ribbon can be found here (ad).
Add holly berries, cedar or pine to your decorative bows. Buffalo plaid ribbon can be found here (ad).

I usually mix in the aforementioned chocolate covered pecans and fudge with my cookies. If you are running short on time, try these individual Godiva Chocolate Truffles gift boxes here (#ad). Just add a small ribbon with bow and you are good to go. They are a classic and you can always eat the truffles that are left after your gift giving season! I order extra truffles because mine do not make it the end of my gift giving season! Another FAV....
Make a great presentation with a variety of different ribbon. A few burlap ribbon choices are here (#ad)

Wrap a small Aromatique Christmas Candle and you have an inexpensive party favor as guests are leaving your party. It’s a great way to say thanks for coming and personalize your party. I use Aromatique Smell of Christmas Textured Glass Scented Candles here (ad) for hostess gifts and small Christmas gifts.
The kids will love this party favor!
Sweet side: Cereal, freeze-dried strawberries, yogurt-covered raisins and just a few green sprinkles, any shapes you can find at the craft store (trees, stars, flowers, etc.).
Savory side: Cereal, dried cranberries, roasted almonds, freeze-dried soy beans and freeze-dried peas.
Stove Top Potpourri
Create a stove top potpourri kit that will have your guest's homes smelling like the season! All you need for this stove top potpourri is: an orange, lemon, rosemary, pine sprigs, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, cranberries, nutmeg and water. Slice or quarter your orange and lemon and put all other ingredients into a small pot. Add 2 cups of water or until everything is covered. Set it on your stove and simmer. Add additional water as it cooks down to keep your home smelling like Christmas!
Use jars or clear gift bags with red or green twine found here (ad).
